The Red Bend DM library allows mobile operators and handset manufacturers to remotely manage mobile devices in the field. The Red Bend DM library is standards-based software that works with any Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) device management (DM)-based server.

With the Red Bend DM library integrated as part of an overall device management solution, handsets can be provisioned, maintained and updated by means of FOTA delivery of updates. This allows mobile operators and handset makers to deliver new features and products to market more quickly and enhance their users' experience.

Red Bend offers a fully documented SDK with an OMA DM 1.2-compliant library and Win32 reference implementation. This allows handset manufacturers to quickly and easily integrate device management capabilities into products according to mobile operator specifications. Development of the DM Client and integration onto the device platform can be performed under Red Bend guidance by the manufacturer or under contract by Red Bend engineers.

OMA DM Compliant: The Red Bend DM library implements the OMA DM 1.2 specification including the OMA DLOTA 1.0 and FUMO 1.0 enablers. The Red Bend library has extensively and repeatedly tested interoperability with 9 DM server vendors under the OMA Testfest program. Red Bend continues to follow standards as they evolve and will add support for such enablers as Scheduling 1.0, DiagMon 1.0, SCOMO 1.0 and DMSmartCard 1.0 once their specifications are ratified.

Reliability: The Red Bend DM library has been designed to ensure stable and reliable operations even under the most difficult conditions. The DM library will keep all persistent data in a consistent state even in cases of power loss or network connection failure.

Compact Code: The static footprint of the library is highly optimized to fit within the constrained memory environment of mobile devices and requires a minimum of runtime resources.

Portability: The Red Bend DM library code is written in ANSI C for easy portability. The abstraction of all platform dependencies into a well structured porting layer makes it easy for handset manufacturers to port the Red Bend DM library to their proprietary platforms or commercial RTOSs.

Security: Security is built into software supplied with the SDK. The Red Bend DM library authenticates the server it is interacting with to ensure that all data exchanges are secure. All communications with the server can use HTTPS / WTLS to ensure that sensitive information is not exposed.

Documentation: Detailed documentation is provided with the SDK describing the various components in the Red Bend DM library and explaining the porting process. A fully functional Win32 reference implementation is supplied as part of the SDK kit.

Professional Services: Red Bend offers a world-class professional services organization that can help device manufacturers to integrate the DM client into their mobile platform and accelerate the time to market for devices. Optionally, Red Bend can develop the DM client for the device manufacturer according to the Mobile Network Operator's specifications. Red Bend professional services engineers have extensive experience in developing full DM Clients on many different software platforms including proprietary OS, BREW and Symbian.

FOTA: The Red Bend DM library when coupled with the Red Bend enabled Firmware Update Agent ensures that the mobile device can be efficiently updated over the air (FOTA) to stay current with the most recent software. The Red Bend library fully supports the OMA DM standard enabler FUMO 1.0. The Red Bend FUMO 1.0 enabler has been tested under the OMA Testfest program.
