Red Bend Software Joins OMSI Forum

Mobile Phone Software Update Technology to Improve Efficiency in Customer Service Centers

FRAMINGHAM, MA, December 14, 2005 – Red Bend Software, the leading provider of firmware over-the-air (FOTA) update technology for mobile phones, today announced that it has joined the Open Mobile Service Interface (OMSI) Forum. Participating in this organization allows Red Bend to contribute to open standards and apply its firmware update technology to mobile phone point-of-sale and customer service facilities.

The purpose of OMSI is to standardize a set of web service interfaces to allow mobile phone service centers to more efficiently service and maintain phones from multiple manufacturers. Founding OMSI members include mobile phone manufacturers BenQ Mobile (formerly Siemens Mobile), Nokia, Siemens and Sony Ericsson.

“Red Bend’s technology and expertise in updating mobile phone software will be valuable in supporting OMSI’s efforts to make customer support simpler and more efficient,” said Dr. Rupert Blank, BenQ Mobile’s Vice President of Customer Care. “BenQ Mobile is already working with Red Bend on updating mobile phones over-the-air, and we see opportunities to apply this technology to delivering updates in service centers as well.”

“Red Bend sees our participation in OMSI as a way to extend the use of our technology to broader applications,” said Red Bend CEO, Yoram Salinger. “While we have demonstrated our effectiveness in updating mobile phones over-the-air, and most of the world’s largest handset makers use our FOTA technology, we see additional opportunities to use our unique technology for more efficient on-line updating as well.”

About OMSI Forum
OMSI Forum develops the OMSI concept and API specifications. The forum members represent different actors in the mobile telecom industry, e.g. mobile phones manufacturers and application providers. OMSI stands for Open Mobile Service Interface and is a Web Services API for PC applications. It makes it possible to perform device management on mobile phones from different manufacturers using a single PC application. OMSI is an open standard. More information about OMSI is available at www.omsi-forum.org.
