Brew MP
Red Bend Software's vDirect Mobile™ device management (DM) client software is pre-integrated with and pre-optimized for Qualcomm's Brew® Mobile Platform, a flexible operating system platform for mobile devices.
vDirect Mobile is used to provision new subscribers, configure applications and network settings, manage software and deliver firmware updates over the air (FOTA). It is the industry's leading independent DM client that is interoperable with any DM server supporting standards from the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA). vDirect Mobile has been adopted by more than 45 mobile manufacturers and operators worldwide, and has been used to manage tens of millions of mobile handsets, PC cards, USB modems, embedded chipsets and machine-to-machine (M2M) wireless modules.
vDirect Mobile makes it easier and more cost effective for manufacturers to quickly integrate standards-based device management functionality into Brew MP-based mobile devices, enabling faster time to market. It provides an innovative framework that streamlines the creation of DM client applications. It can be easily adapted to any type of mobile device and can be quickly customized to meet operators' unique requirements. As a result, manufacturers using Brew MP with vDirect Mobile need less time and fewer resources to implement device management.
vDirect Mobile offers full compliance with OMA DM standards, including management objects (MO) such as FUMO, SCOMO, LAWMO and DL. In addition, vDirect Mobile supports the WiMAX MO from the WiMAX Forum. The solution enables OEM manufacturers to:
- Provision and activate new subscribers
- Configure parameters including preferred roaming lists
- Recover the download session in the event of a network or power failure
- Conduct lock and wipe and device reset
- Customize the DM user interface and experience
vDirect Mobile can be implemented as a stand-alone DM client, or it can be combined with Red Bend's other Mobile Software Management (MSM) solutions: vRapid Mobile™ FOTA for updating firmware over the air and vRapid Mobile™ Software Management Client for managing software components and applications over the air.
