The Hosted Service is designed to provide Redbend’s Software Management solutions for remotely delivering software updates and other management services to many millions of devices. With a Hosted Service the Software Management server is hosted in the cloud by Redbend in either a standard production or a high-availability configuration, according to the customer needs. Redbend is responsible for maintaining and updating the backend software, including a server's OS update, security, firewall, daily backups and more.
The Hosted Service customers receive access to a complete Software Management server, with a three-tier domain/account structure, enabling them to provide services to their own customers, with complete isolation of devices or vehicle models, devices, managed software assets and management campaigns between the customers. With the Hosted Service a service provider can enable their customers access to their own accounts/domains in the system, for managing their own devices and software assets, while still enabling the service provider to perform common software or firmware updates for all the devices in the Hosted Service.
The Software Management solution can be configured on a wide variety of parameters and integrated with the service provider back-end systems, using an extensive set of available APIs, as required. Multiple server-initiated (push) options are also available.
Redbend Hosted Service is available for Mobile, IoT and Automotive solutions. It can be used for managing firmware and other managed software assets on multiple device platforms, including Android, Linux, QNX, Brew and AMSS as well as some RTOSs. Lock, unlock and wipe are also supported.
