Interoperability~
The Red Bend Certified™ Interoperability Program is intended to give mobile device manufacturers and mobile network operators the assurance of interoperability between Red Bend’s client software and device management servers from partner companies.
As the market leader in mobile software management, Red Bend’s software products have been deployed in more than 1 billion mobile devices worldwide. Red Bend is the only company offering independent client software for managing firmware, applications and devices over the air. Red Bend is committed to fostering and adopting industry standards in order to advance the maturity of MSM technologies and to accelerate the deployment and usage of MSM-based services.
Participation
The Red Bend Certified Interoperability Program is open to partner companies that provide device management servers supporting standards from the Open Mobile Alliance Device Management (OMA DM) Working Group. There is no fee to join the program. The Program certifies interoperability with partner companies’ server products. Companies agree to make necessary product modifications in order to ensure interoperability, and may be required to retest major new releases of their server products to ensure ongoing interoperability.
Benefits
By joining the Program, partner companies can ensure interoperability of their servers with Red Bend’s client software, in order to deliver proven solutions to the marketplace. Partner benefits include:
- The ability to test against market-leading client software
- Use of Red Bend client emulator for ongoing testing during development
- Ability to state that partner’s server is Red Bend Certified
- Listing on Red Bend’s web site
- Opportunities for joint product demonstrations
- Opportunities for joint marketing and PR
Testing
The Red Bend Certified Interoperability Program tests Red Bend’s client software with OMA DM-compliant servers. The Program uses industry developed test plans from the OMA DM Working Group plus other tests that may be developed by Red Bend to support manufacturers and operators in commercial deployments of MSM-based services.
To achieve certification, partner companies’ servers must successfully complete interoperability tests for the following OMA DM standards enablers and candidate enablers:
- DM 1.2.1
- FUMO
- SCOMO
To achieve certification, partner companies must successfully test with the following Red Bend client software products:
- vRapid Mobile® for updating firmware over the air
- vDirect Mobile® for performing device management
Optionally, partner companies may also test with the following Red Bend client software products:
- vRapid Mobile for managing applications and software components over the air
In preparation for the software management test, partner companies must integrate Red Bend’s vRapid Mobile Software Management Center with their servers. Red Bend will provide technical support during the integration as well as during the test period.
