FOTA player Red Bend delivers new technology, new branding and $10m in new funding
By Tony Rizzo Since our last analysis in January 2008, Red Bend Software has certainly continued to remain busy, delivering new platform components, breaking the 305 million deployed devices barrier and now landing a fifth round of funding worth $10m. The company continues to build core momentum and is now looking to also begin expanding its core competencies in ways that leverage those core competencies. Most recently it introduced its own Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Device Management (DM)-compliant device management module, vDirect Mobile. From a brand perspective, Red Bend now refers to itself as a mobile software management (MSM) vendor and believes that it has the necessary pieces in place to target every possible aspect of on-board device software. It is further moving into the area of machine to machine (M2M) software management. The company is on the right track for growth, and the new funding, in Red Bend's case, will help get it to the next level.
